History

In the beginning, there was the Walnut Street Neighbors Association, and in 1998 was the first community festival.  The organization consisted of individuals and families who rented apartments and owned homes in the Walnut Street neighborhood of
Waukegan Illinois.

The objective was to improve the quality of life for everyone in the neighborhood, from children to senior citizens and families of all races and religions.  We did this by bringing educational materials to children whose families would other wise not have the capacity to afford school supplies themselves; and brought social service agencies to the community festival so that the adults would have access to them and utilize their assistance and improve their families lives.

More than a decade later the organization, now called CITY OF MIRACLES INTERNATIONAL continues to expand its mission and expand it's festivals to six cities across two states; in addition to Christian Mission trips to Africa and Central America as well.

City of Miracles International (CMI) promotes job opportunities, a drug free community, spiritual growth and opportunity for every individual in the community, regardless of economic station, to receive an equal start to school year and not be hindered because of lack of income.  It is the hope of CMI that through our Annual Festivals Series in the United States and our Christian Mission trips abroad, we are able to connect individuals in need, to the resources that can become the catalyst for change and improvement, and provide an initial meeting of spirituality.

Thanks to God and all the wonderful volunteers he has provided us, we have been able to affect more than 25,000 families in the United States alone, provided more than 10,000 back packs to children in need, and have provided more than half a million dollars worth of free educational materials World Wide.
